Welcome to lod.ashtonmason.net. This site is about my research into Level of Detail for my PhD (at the University of Cape Town, supervised by Dr Edwin Blake).

Currently, this site hosts downloadable PDFs of my dissertation and also two published papers (or more accurately, technical reports with near-identical content).

Note that one of these corrects a crucial error in the published version of the paper, which was only discovered after it had gone to print. This error is so fundamental that it is preferable to read the technical report provided here (or, if you're super-keen, the dissertation itself).
